Celia A. Cohen focuses on the areas of white-collar
criminal defense, regulatory investigations and complex
civil litigation with a particular emphasis on securities law
and accounting fraud, focusing on the financial services
sector.
Recent Engagements:
- Representation of a medical professional in a healthcare fraud prosecution brought by the New York Attorney General's office resulting in a complete acquittal on behalf of client
- Representation of a former Chief Financial Officer under indictment in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York in a complex securities fraud and insider trading case, along with representation in parallel Securities & Exchange Commission and class action civil litigation
- Representation of an investment banker in connection with a class action relating to the HealthSouth accounting fraud scandal
- Representation of investors in a company under investigation by the United States Attorneys office and Securities & Exchange Commission
- Representation of an officer of a public company in a class and derivative civil litigation in the Eastern District of New York relating to the backdating of stock options
- Representation of a financial institution client in connection with an investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office and Securities & Exchange Commission into various kickback schemes
- Representation of an individual under indictment in New York State Court charged with larceny and securities fraud
- Conducting an internal investigation into alleged accounting improprieties of a major association on behalf of its Board of Directors
Prior To Kobre & Kim LLP:
Prior to joining Kobre & Kim LLP, Ms. Cohen practiced at Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP, where she focused on white-collar criminal defense and a substantial number of complex civil litigation cases.
Ms. Cohen ranked first in the Syracuse University College of Law's trial and appellate advocacy competitions.
