Experienced International Arbitration Advocates and Arbitrators.

We have experience with arbitrations in a wide range of international and industry forums, including the ICC, UNCITRAL, AAA/ICDR, LCIA, ICSID, FINRA, ICE, LIFFE, and NFA, among others.  We have advocated in arbitrations across many jurisdictions, including:

  • a Mexican law arbitration among Mexican, Belgian, and U.S. parties venued in New York,
  • an English law arbitration between U.S. and Kuwaiti parties venued in London, and
  • a Korean law arbitration between U.S. and Korean parties venued in Singapore.

Our lawyers include practiced arbitrators consisting of Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the Hong Kong and Singapore Institutes of Arbitrators, a member of the London Court of International Arbitration, and many other arbitration panels.

Our lead partners in this area include two English Queen’s Counsel who have extensive experience sitting as arbitrators, both in panel and single arbitrations, as well as Judges in the English courts.

Representative Engagements.

High Technology / Telecommunications.

  • Representation of the majority shareholder of a Latin American utility company in AAA arbitration in New York against a consortium of minority shareholders in a contest for corporate control, involving more than US $350 million in controversy.  The case, Axtel S.A. et al. v. LAIF X, et al., was recognized by The American Lawyer: Focus Europe as one of the most significant international arbitrations of the year.  The case also involved parallel judicial proceedings in New York and Mexico.
  • Representation of a major U.S. mobile communications device manufacturer against a major European mobile communications device manufacturer in ICC arbitration in New York relating to more than US $60 million in disputed intellectual property rights, among other issues

Energy.

  • Representation of a Korean industrial company in SIAC arbitration in Singapore against a U.S. public company in connection with a dispute over complex gas reselling contracts involving more than US $100 million in damages
  • Representation of a Kuwaiti technology reseller in ICC arbitration in London against a U.S. public company over £ 70 million in damages allegedly arising from an unlawful termination of a product reseller and distribution agreement relating to petroleum refinery operations technologies

Financial and Professional Services / Insurance.

  • Representation of an English company in LCIA arbitration in London, relating to a large hedge fund dispute arising out of Bermuda and the United States
  • Representation of a shareholder in a British Virgin Islands company in connection with an arbitration concerning the valuation of shares on forced departure
  • Representation of a hotel developer in the Turks & Caicos Islands in connection with a construction arbitration with the main building contractor
